Hi all,

im trying to work out if anything has been done to my car in terms of engine tuning...

just wanted to ask . do standard 2.5's really seem to take off like a scalded cat once past 4k rpm?

for all i know mine is very much standard, but just want to get a definite picture of what a standard 2.5 engine is like, before i start pulling mine apart out of curiosity

They aren't sluggish that's for sure, it's hard to say if something's been done unless you start pulling it apart.

You can easilly identify the usual bolt on type mods and I guess you could hook off the rocker cover and see if its had a performance cam put in there.

They don't hang about in stock form though!!

That's what they do! And the petrol consumption sinks from an already disgraceful level to about 11mpg.

If I'm extra extra careful I can get just under 30mpg all urban driving and about 35mg on the motorway out of my 325i :)

I'm actually just outside of Aldershit in Ash Vale, must admit I've not seen you around, will keep an eye out!

I'm quite easy to spot, 6' bloke on a bike (I'll get my car back on the road at SOME point!)
