tank guard

i'm currently building a 320i for road rallying and i need a tank guard for it. does anyone have a diagram or picture of how to make one or where i could purchase one from? any help is much appreciated

Hi mate,
I made a tank guard for my 325i out of abit of plastic drum, (you know the ones that are about 5ft tall, used for farm chemicals etc). It seems to of done the trick. I just measured it roughly, cut it out, bolted it up just behind the front seats and cable tied it to the rear beam. You defo need one- its rediculous how much the tank sticks out from the floor pan!
So you rally a 320i, what are you planning on doing when they ban 6 cylinders in Jan 07? Bast**d$!!! Where abouts are you from?

thats the first i've heard of that! i knew some rule changes were on the way but i didn't know they were for definate guess i'll have to find a 318is lump but it'll probably be on it's roof before the years out . i'm from north wales near rhyl.

Yeah, thats exactly what i'm doing- building a 318is engine up. Im not 100% that this is definate yet but it has been in'motorsports now' twice now and seems like its gonna happen I'm from Chester, what rallys are you planning on doing? My cars ready now but my navy is pissin me about, think i'm gonna have to find someone else. Do you know a bloke they call big Dave from rhyl? He used to rally a 325i.

Y Rali Gogledd Cymru hopefully, but if its not ready by then i might be navigating a sierra. i have some mates in rhyl & district MC and they talk about a lad called big dave, possibly the same one.

You could have a word with these guys about tank guards. (They have some drawings for strengthening engine mountings too.)
