transfering 325i into 318i for example??

hey,im thinking about buying a rolling shell thats in better cond than mine,i.e. no rot or dents and changing my stuff into it,just wanted to know if the chassis on lower cc e30's are any different??or can i just change my stuff over?? do 2.5's have any strengtheners or anything else i should know about?? cheers

Saloon shells are basicaly the same. Just small differences, like different brackets for the air filter, the mounting stud for the horn not being present in the grille apeture, and the mounting bracket for the clutch resevoir not being there on autos

what about the rear brakes,on 318's theyre drums arent they? so id have to run new lines to them,what about fuel lines? they the same? cheers

318 rear brakes are drum, but they will transfer over with the whole rear beam.
Enough brake pipe to completely refit two E30s costs about Ԛ£10, so these should be changed as a mater of course.
325 fuel lines can be swapped over, ( filter in a different place ), and the fuel vent line is probably rusty, so should be renewed as well.

thanks alot,ive bought a 318 shell today,the only other thing i noticed is the battery is up front,so ive got to run a power lead to the back,any other minor things i'll need to do that you can think of??? im actually looking forward to doing it!!

Battery can stay up the front. It's up front on a 325 Touring, except for one of mine, where it's moved to the back, because I want the front tray to mount some other (LPG) gear.
