Plug into a socket on the right hand side of the glovebox.
Before you bid on anything from ebay, check on the new price from your dealer. They're not expensive, and frequently sell for more than new on ebay.

Yes, that's it.
Try taking off the panel to the right of the glovebox. In about half of the E30s that come my way with a missing torch, it's got lost in there.

you may as well test the 2 prongs to male sure when you get the torch it will charge ....if i remember right it should be 6volts as the chap says check the dealers i believe that they are Ԛ£12 new you will pay up tp Ԛ£20 on ebay and the postage on top and you may be buying something 15yrs old that does not work very well but dont be tempted to buy the black later torch they have the 2 prongs on the torch and dont fit on a e30 contrary to some people on ebay who try and sell them to you saying they fit

The two prongs in the glovebox socket on an E30, are earth and 12V+, straight from fuse 21. The charging resistor is inside the torch.
The torches can be rebuilt with a new NiMH battery with a bit of messing around.
