Right, am tring to sort the central locking out, now i thought i knew what to do after it went on my first touring, but this is a bit more involved.

When i went to investigate the central locking module behind the speaker i found out it was missing, so got a working one, but still nothing, so i by passed the door pin socket and still nothing.

The amin problem is that the drivers door lock is set at the horizontal position and the key wont move it at all. I have took the door card of and on the back of the barrle is a black plusg with a couple of wires going into it, if move this it makes the central locking module click, i also notice that ther is a flat plug in there that isnt connected, not sure if this is a spare plug on the loom for something ellse?

So what i want to do is to get the door barrel so it will work with the key, if not how hard would it be to swap it for the passenger side one?

hope some of this makes sense

removing the barrel is easy, remove the door card (two screws under arm rest, one behind mirror adjuster) then remove the plastic sheet carefully. then you will be able to see the barrel, remove the clip by sliding it out to the side with a screwdriver or something the barrel can then be removed from the outside. remove your passenger side and swap. note the passenger side does not deadlock. if its the original barrel BMW can supply you with a new barrel if you take in your VIN number, so you keep your original key.

right got the lock out, and they cant be swaped over as the they only fit one way up.

Is there anyway of getting the drivers one to unlock with the key?

Back to the central locking, if i pres the solenoid on the drivers door it locks the boot and the filler cap, but not the doors, it also dosent seem to unlock them?
