I'm having a ball ache with removing my rear diff, its the four top bolts that are giving me jip.
So I was thinking, drop the whole rear sub frame and then attack the four top bolts.

Or should I keep on at them with my box ended spanner. Ive pulled with all my might and still no movement from the top most bolts.

I'm at my wits end with the bloody diff! :-x

Good fun innit! Combination spanner and large lump hammer shifts them for me.
If the sub frame bushes are due for renewal, then drop the frame.

I'm now thinking, scaff bar around the spanner for more leverage.

I dont really want to drop the frame, but the bushes do look very tired.
There probs original :?

Cummon mate, drop the fram and do the bushes and the trailing arm ones, the cab deserves it really, then with the new diff in place, you'll know the back end is mint, it's not that difficult and it does make getting the diff off easier.

I was gonna say, diff rebuilding is a bit of an art form, so it won't be cheap.

Well line some one up to do the job before you buy the diff. I would have thought having the bearings changed will be a £150+ job, unless BM diff are different to AC cobra Diffs! As they are the only ones I have ever had experience with and they need precision rebuilding.

all diffs must be repaired correctly or your wasting money, backlash, mesh, preload, all need to be measured. 8O

Thats why they aren't cheap, they are complex components, unlike say an engine, far more moving parts I know but engines are simple!

Well, depends if you have had a quote for the fix job? You know how much these diff's are worth, but I suppose you could buy a "good" one and have it fail so at least if you had the bearings done you'd know it's good for 200,000
