been doing some enconomy tests of my own recently on the m20b20 "oliver"

from light on, I filled the tank with £55 at 92.9p

gives 59.20litres (55/.929)

gives 13.04 gallons (59.20/4.54)

and I managed to cover 416 miles

about 100 of those were in town (heavy traffic)

200 on backroads (A+B roads, tackles in a manner that enjoys the e30's poise and grace winkeye )

100ish on motorway, cruising at about 65mph, they bore me so i just chill.

so the MPG for that little lot was 31.9- none too shabby i feel!

as a reward, the car got serviced on wednesday so if anything MPG should improve...

i have £15 in the tank as we speak so i'll let you know

Bob - are you sure you haven't got a hole in the fuel tank????

I drove to Surrey and back on Wednesday this week at a steady 70-75mph and averaged over 40mpg in my iS. That's 450miles on about 50litres. The worst i've ever got was still about 26/27mpg.

mine usually does 180 miles to a tank (that's full to the brim and refilled only when the light comes on).. that's 15mpg!!!!

i have managed to get 250 miles to a tank once and have managed less than 100 miles to a tank too!!!

it its defence though, it's such a big engine that on the 3 mile run to work, it almost never gets more than 1/4 the way up the temp gauge so average milage it town driving with a cold engine.

still hurts though    ... until i put my boot down and i do this

i cant seem to get my 325 auto above 20.8mpg on the obc, thats 50 motorway miles at 70mph going to work and 105mph coming home :) ,as for fuel light, comes on at approx 20m left, then miles go up to 32 then steadily down, obc is very accurate as mine went down to 9 miles then shows a straight line
