Hi there, just wondering if any of you guys could tell me where I could get a replacement battery for the white glovebox torch. Got two of the things knocking about - both of which are useless!

Thanks,

Theo

You'd be better off binning them and forking out 12 quid for a new one from ebay!

I've replaced the batteries in a couple of them. Used a suitably sized NiMH battery from CPC.
Don't pay more on ebay than they cost new from the dealer!

Cheers for that guys, theres no way im getting another of these stupid little things, certainly not paying for one anyway - nicked one from a scrapyard and then found the original one from my car when I removed my front centre console, thought I was seeing double for a minute! Must have been there for a long time.

Check the price of the torches at your local dealer - i'm sure they were only about a tenner each last time i checked, and most on ebay seem to go at least 12 quid plus p&p!!

Battery doesn't just slot in - it's a bit of a fiddly job. £10 for a new one sounds good value to me.
In about half the E30s I buy, there is a torch behind the centre console, even if there is one in the socket.

The factory torch is about as useful as powdered water, in my opinion. Use it if you're desperate, but its a good idea to keep something a little more substantial in the trunk.

It ain't no searchlight, but it's quite good enough to change a wheel by, or check a fluid level.

i took the batteries out of the later black torch which are much easier to get hold of a and soldered them in to the white one they are the same works great obviously the pins are different on the base but it was easy to do ...we have a fleet of bmw,s at work .....not many with torches in it does make you wonder where they all go
