Unbolt the prop from the gearbox by undoing the bolts/nuts @ the flexi coupling, normally 18mm heads just to be annoying and they're tight !

check out the Z3 shortshift article on the main website for info on getting the remote linkage off the box dude, theres pix on there to help ya.

You can also get the whole thing out with gear stick still attached. Did it the other weekend. good luck.

thx, was thinking of leaving the gear stick attached but not sure if it was possible.

And how im looking forward to undoing those bolts on the propshaft........not, tried it with a big bar attached to the socket, would not budge.......... if anyone is built like a terminator and would like to come and free them for me, please feel free  (yardley area)

Oh well see what tomorrow brings

At last i have finished the engine replacement :D alot quieter and easier to start first thing in the morning, and no smoke coming out of exhaust when going over 5k Revs like me old one. Well pleased

Next project, getting the car lowered hopefully with adjustable coil overs :D

That of course after my aching body recovers.

if u leave the gearstick on.... this will cause probs as it will touch the tranny tunnel as u try and lift engine out

best remove it first...

I had car on wheel ramps and a very high lift hoist so came out with the gear stick attached.

Was suprised how easy it came out and in really, having said that dont want to do another one in a hurry.
