Coding Plug?????????
This is a new one because I've never heard of anyone having to change the coding plug with an M50 swap (either here or on any of the U.S. sites).

What am I missing here Steve? :stupid:

Iain S.

EDIT: Excellent write up BTW :thumb:

If you use a 4 pot cluster, then you need to change to a 6 pot coding plug, whethet the 6 pot is a M20, M30, M50 or whatever.

Thats funny, when I put my 318 radiator on, I couldnt get the bottom hose in front of the alternator on :?
Ive got the rad from the 525 on at the moment. Fits fine apart from not enough clearance to use a viscous fan, so I may use one from an M20 with a seperate header tank yet.
A pic of yours would be great Steve winkeye

Might be able to help you if you learned how to focus a camera, Steve.

I think you will have problems when you refitt the pump then Steve, as theres no way mine will go on.
Im going to swap the plastic rad mounts around tomorow, which should push it far enough to the nearside to get the hose on 8)
Then measure up for a fan and a trip to the bone yard

Heres the mounts I used, E28 535

They really are 'solid' :D

The radiator can be moved sideways by playing with the mounts, since there's no need for the fan shroud, since you can't fit the viscous fan anyway.
E34 or 7 series aircon auxilary fan fits into an E30 perfectly.

[quote="stevetigger"]Nice info Brian, Ebay time! winkeye

Rough measurements for the space in front of the RAD.

23" Wide
16" High
4" Depth
quote]
Drill a hole for one of the rubber mount blocks half way up the left hand (from the front) vertical rail (of the rad "frame"), and attach the other two rubber mounts with two small bent brackets, one two the bottom rail, and the other to the bonnet hinge panel.
Get the 5/7 series thermal switch as well (fits straight into most replacement radiators), and wire the whole lot back to the positions provided for it in the E30 fusebox.

E32 or E34 is what I've used or checked out.May be others as well.
Get the airfilter box from the straight six E32 as well. Fit into the M50 E30 perfectly, with the AFM actually inside the filter box.
