Does anyone if that sensor next to/coming out of the sump is the same on all m20's? i 'm sure its oil pressure sensor - i'm loosing a pint of oil every three hundred miles either through the sensor or around it - i only realised how bad it was looking at the ground in the rain - its not safe for those behind me so i cant really drive her till i sort something. i have a 325i sport parked up but its pre facelift,. will it matter?

There are two versions of the E30 oil level sensor, which isn't fitted at all on most E30s. Early ones are a simple float switch, but later ones have both a static and dynamic switch. Either way, it's only likely to be a split O ring.
OP says it's the oil pressure switch that is faulty, and these are notorious for leaking, but it doesn't fit in the sump of course. These are interchangeable amongst all E30s, most BMWs, and a high proportion of other makes as well.
Is the faulty bit on the left or right of the engine (facing forwards)?
