I was purchsing new lowering springs today from GSF and they had ordered 4cyl ones instead of 6cyl ones. Does this sort of thing happen often? (The Newcastle branch is new)
Also, I'm setting up a trade discount. Is this worth anything in real terms?
As all I could get off the springs was 50p!

i usually find gsf are quite good ...well my local branch is but they dont have the bmw specifications up to date ...i have a 93 cab and they think all e30's stopped production in 1991 because my cab is a 318 they try to sell parts for a 318 saloon when i wanted disc pads for the rear they said it should be drums when i wanted pads for the front they thought i should have the solid discs not the vented ones so there paperwork on cars is not that hot ......as for discount they have different levels and have saved me quite a few pounds ...ask the manager for more or tell him euro car parts give better discount and they will probably give you a better deal

Got £15 off my alternator for my VW Van yesterday.........
As a member of the BMW Car Club you get 10% off anyway, i got a slightly better rate yesterday as the guy serving behind the counter is on the same college course as me, didn't know he worked there...
Also i bought my van from them a couple of years back !

I ordered 10 items for my 318iS last week. They arrived on time, but the ARB Front Bushes intended for the car didnt fit. They were V Bad quality, they were the £1.80 ones.
Plus I ordered a front caliper on the advice of the GSF staff, they sent a girling when most iS have ATE.
However as long as you know what you are looking for and know your prices GSF isnt bad at all as an all round parts shop.

I ordered some m30 exhaust maifold gaskets and they sent me two E30 exhaust fitting kits, they let me keep the fitting kits and sent me the gaskets. I get 10% off with the BMW car club.

I mean If you order an ignition barrel on a registration plate who else will charge you £30 and have it for you within 14 days? now thats what I call good service!

good service indeed, but I don't need an ignition barrel on my numberplate
BMW are good, but how would I stand seeking a discount? I thought they were sniffy about that sort of thing.
Plus these springs lower more than the 25mm max recommended by BMW, so they would not stock them anyway.

I got 10% by just being cheeky when he said can I get you anything else I said how about a bit of discount as I'm a bit skint? he said how does 10% sound? I said thats very kind of you and now have 10% off all my e30 parts
what I meant was I gave them the rgistration on my car and he got me an ignitin barrel for it purely by going on the reg plate!

I phoned `Westerley BMW` in Exeter to order a Z3 gear shift and nylon bush and was told it would be about £26 plus VAT.
Phoned them back about an hour later and asked if i could order 2 of each,1 for me,1 for my mate.
Went to pick them up a couple of days later and got them both for £42 all in
Ever since i have been getting a good discount.
