Got home after a week working away to get a phone call from my gramps (my motorsport is sitting on his drive as i dont have the room to store it).
Some woman knocked on his door asked if she can buy it as a present for her boyfriend, she said she knows its got no tax, mot and would i be interested in parting with it as her bloke would really really like it.
So i asked me gramps how did she know it didnt have an MOT, he said its cause there is no sticker in the front window, i said well actually it has got one and just cause there is no sticker doesnt mean it hasnt got one. As for the tax yeah it hasnt got any tax cause im not using it at present just restoring it.
She said she has seen me drive it knowing ive got no MOT or TAX, it is nice she would like to buy it but i aint parting with it for nobody and as for me driving it, its only been off the drive to go into the garage and it has been fully insured (like id drive it without plus the law does state that it can be driven without tax it have an MOT as long as its only taken out for that and that alone) so when i took it out i had someother work done at the same time kill two birds with one stone.
Apparently this guy drives down to the end of the close in which my gramps lives turns around and stops to look at it, which is a nice gesture from him. However im sure but they think id let them have it for peanuts, me gramps reckons the bird did say she knows that it is a special car or something. When i get back from my jolly this weekend i might go and see this woman and tell her for 10K she can have it lol
Im not using it as the moment as i am getting parts from here there and everywhere to try and restore the parts on it i am not happy with.
Just thought id share that with you as i really dunno what to think, like the mrs said it was a nice gesture but i see it as if it was for sale id put it up on here and have a sign in the window of the car for sale but its not so please dont bother me what do others think?

Mate,in all honesty,ive knocked on doors over long standing E30`s many a time,and a good few of them have paid off,few havent!
Although admitedly none as good or valuable as yours.
Assuming the car is alarmed/well secured,i wouldnt worry to much,take it more as a compliment!

Yeah its well alarmed and secure, dont think anything will happen where he lives, everyone knows everyone plus hes been living there for decades and its a very quiet tucked away cul-de-sac.

I get that quite often, people knocking on the door or leaving notes on the window. Generally these people are after a cheap deal and are a complete waste of time.
Once some funny guy said to me "£1500 cash in hand, i cant say fairer than that mate" I thought he was joking but he was actually serious!
I always say the same thing to these people, yes the car is always for sale at the right price, 11k and its yours.
The way i look at it, its only worth selling a car you love if you sell it for a price that would let you buy a car thats better.

Have had this a fair few times aswell with a few of my cars more so with the E30 tho. I would in the drive giving it a wash and cars would pull up and ask if it was for sale.... I sold my 325i Sport about 4 weeks ago, 2 nights ago i was out the front of my house doing something on my M3 (e36) and a car pulls up, toots the horn and the guy waves at me, i'm like who the fcuk is this, he drives on up the street abit and i carry on regardless, next thing he's parked up in my drive asking if i still had my sport and was it for sale. They guy said he drives by my house every morning and always seen my sport sitting in the drive and he took a real liking to it, he drives a 330 at the minute but has loved the e30's from his younger days and would really like another. Lucky for him the guy i sold it to is selling it on again and i was able to give him a number for it so chances are i could be seeing my old sport again.
Sorry for the ramble on there but it fits with this post and just goes to show there are people out there who appreciate the hard work we put into keeping cars looking good and gives you a real sencse of achievement when you get comments like this

I also had people asking me how much I want for mine, even though at the moment is looking a bit of a turd, I think you are right in keeping it, let them dream of having one !
Its funny how some people say these are old cars and why not have a new one and all that, but in the other hand we get all these offers from others wanting to have one !
I say hold on to it, that interest show how much this cars are sought after and no wonder why !! I look twice myself everytime I see another E30 on the road... lol

i get people asking to buy my car when im out or just cleaning it out side my house, at 1st i just said give me a good offer and its yours, and i was getting £1000 and things like that,when i asked them if they know what it is they where like, "yer a f-reg" there is a escort down the road on a k for £500, WELL GO GET THE ESCORT THEN lol i just say no even if it is, i dont put paper in the window i just put it on here so on.

as previously said, sure its a ncie thought to have someone admiring your car...but having them stalk it is a different story...
although i learnt to drive on an E30, i had an obsession for 2002's emerge last year...there was one i noticed in my neighbourhood and i asked the owner if he was willing to sell it...his answer was both modest and polite " give me your number, and if i ever think to sell it; ill call you"

funny you guys talking about this, saw my mate last week at his restaurant, had some guys there he knew, checked out my car and they were interested in buying it, anyway mate rings me later tells me they wanna offer me 9k for it. I just laughed, reality check it aint gonna happen. But said if they were interested and showed me the money then I wouldnt say no, but moral of that, some people chat shit as well!

what he's implying is, he aint gonna sell it unless you have the dollars to buy it for 25k. I understood what he meant fine, without searching through 2000 of his posts, I was asking what had been done to the car...
I see he's stuck in a ton of audio kit (which wouldn't be to my taste), added a bodykit (again not to my taste). I'd invest £50k in something else myself. Like a good 911, an E39 M5 and an E38 750i... To each their own I guess!

Had some guy knocking on my door for my "Sport" when I had it a few years back! I was at work, so the wife tells me when I get home! Got a little worried, but the wife told me he was in an E30 four door....... later I found where the guy lives in my town and he had about four E30's on his drive for sale! So he wanted mine for the leather and exhaust for his daily E30, then he was going to sell my car on without the leather!
Also since having my Convertible, people ask all the time to buy it but at silly low prices!
Went to get a couple of new tyres once, some guy says his wife wants one! He pulls out his mobile and starts chatting "shit" about my car! Then asks me how much, I said £5k and its yours! He gets back to chatting and then hangs up, turns to me and says the wife only wanted to pay £500 for a convertible

Just got back from a few days away, its nice to have the interest from others with regards to my car, but like most people have said on here they think they can buy them for a bargain just cause im not using it at present.
The fact that its sitting on a drive and when the weather gets nicer i will be over there most weekends getting it just right for the summer, then he will see just how loved my e30 cab is

mad stories guys, it shows that there really are some ignorant fools out there who have no idea what they are talking about i think my blood would boil if some twat had the cheek to offer £500 and the like for a motorsport or convertible!!!!!
E39 530d M-sport- quite nippy
My car is valued at £200 at the local auctions, pmsl!!!! Im guessing they've never sold any E30 M3's before then!
