hi guys,

just fitted my kenwood head unit. plugged wires straight into the 'black adapter' thingy. But, I loose my settings, eq and radio presets when i turn off the ignition. Pain in the arse!!

can some one tell me VERY SIMPLY what i need to do??- i presume its to do with always needing a live connection, any help much appreciated.

The radio you've fitted should have two lives on it, a permanant live that will keep all your settings and an ignition or "swithced" live, this is the one that turns the radio off with the ignition. What you need to do is cheque to make sure that these wires are going to there correct connections on the car wiring because if there the wrong way round the live that should be permanant will be connected to the ignition live and therefore losing any saved info when the car is switched off. Some radios have wiring that can just be joined so both lives from the radio are connected to a permanant live on the car but this does mean that when you switch the ignition off the radio will stay on. On most radios these days the wire that is meant to be permanant live has a in line fuse in it so it should be easy to tell which is which and go from there, Good luck !

lol "black adapter thingy"
ISO connector.

there may also be a jumper on the back of the unit to swap the perm live from yellow to red and vise versa. (my KMD-673R has)
