The thing with a Schnitzer converstion is that its more a BMW type approved rather than a mod, so will keep its value.
The torque goes up to 200 plus and revs up to nearly 9k, so it drives better round town, but you have the power when you need it.
What a sound on full throttle.

No, not got the grunt of a 911, but different cars, different experience. this my 911. A real hand full, one of the back turbo brakes locked up and sent me over to the other side of road spinning at about 70.
The m3 is more predictable but nat a fast.

It was £5K and it keeps the AFM, plus a seriously dodgy looking air filter! 8O (Get a ram air pipe set up as a minimum IMO, engine bay mounted cones actually loose power.) Apparently simply removing the restriction of the AFM helps liberate better low down torque/power.

I think the way I will go with mods on my car are slight improvements to the engine. I'd like to see 100BHP per litre at the wheels from my 2.3 But most of the effort will go on the running gear and making the car lighter. I've said it before if you want to drive a 3-400 HP car these aren't the best things to buy.

Rich i dont know where you are getting all your prices? but AN is £400 the airbox is about £350

Cams are £300 each

Miltek £500

Thats a total of £1850 (Less than what you are paying for AN/AIrbox)

Loose the  Makes you look like a tosser.

I was reading http://s14motorsport.de However I wasnt transferring to £ from Euros.

Though to be fair I was right on the Milltek as I've got one :P

But anyway you cut it £2K for a handful of BHP is not the cheapest of options.

Keep it friendly ladies.

Looking more and more like a sport with a 2.7 or 3.5 conv. is the way forward.

Thanks i am a tosser,

John keeps on doing special buys on S14.net on AN units for 600 Euros and the airbox from Muzzi is 499 Euros, 284 high lift schricks are £300 if you shop about so its not actually that dear to mod a S14. Does that mean your going to keep your engine?

I don't know tbh. I would prefer to keep the car in the same vein as it was intended.

But at the same time, 3.2 litres is tempting, but then I would feel odd, like Ive defeated the point of the car. Same as Turbos really. And all the while BHP is quite an addictive thing.

And underlining all that is a lack of cold hard cash to spend on my car

I know what you mean, on my last dyno run the 215 unit i have made only 200bhp and its too slow!

Ive had all the isues sorted out (it was running lean) and it feels faster but lets say its running 215bhp now, its not fast enough. For 15k you can get a nice Alpina B8 4.6 which would keep you happy for a while winkeye then move upto a porche but where do you stop? I enjoy messing about with the S14 i think its a great engine for the E30 chassis and i would not have anything less. Remember the DTM cars had around 330 bhp out of a 2.5 s14 and for a E30 thats tones of power!

Thats a good point. Theres a danger, which Vlad even mentions on his thread on S14. That the engine dominates the car. And IMO as soon as any mod starts to detract from other aspects of the car. Its a case of going the wrong way.
