i might have bought tomsons 318is engine to go in my 318i cab! but he has no prop with it. will the IS box fit onto my 318i prop? will the IS engine couple with my gearbox? the only other thing that he is missing is the exhaust but this is a great excuse to buy a stainless steel one!!

i know that i need:
engine and ancilleries,
ecu,
engine loom.

anything else???

I think you'll need an iS prop - I've never done the conversion, but I believe it's necessary as the M42 sits further back in the bay & the iS prop is shorter.

I do happen to have one should this be the case.

Cheers,
Chris

Nope the 318i gearbox will not work with the M42-M40-M42 combination.

You need to use M42 engine - M42 Gearbox - M42 Prop

why's this Demlot???

i've got a 316i g'box to go on my M42 rebuild project when its done. will this not fit then?

both the boxes look exactly the same, as far as im aware, its only the internals (ratio's) that are different...

although i do know that the iS used a prop and 'box that no other E30 used...
