I plan to do some body work this month and have bought some carbon fiber. has anyone ever tried to do this before? if it comes out nice i think i may do the front fenders (wings) and some other parts i figure i can save quite a bit of weight. suggestions, things to look out for?

Thanks guys this video should prove helpful when doing the wings. I have been playing with some scraps and will be getting some help from a friend that used to build replica MGs in the states with all fiberglass panals. The key is take your time :D

Bump here is the front bumper i just finished sanding it still needs some finishing touches ,paint and cut outs for the lights but im happy with how it came out. got the idea of the design from the new hartage 1 series and the ac scnitzer tension. What do you think?

I know i should have put it next to the e30 but the 7 was already out side
it only weighs 4.5 lbs with all the hangers

Surely use sumit else then, thats the whole point of CF....putting on all that filler makes it weigh loads.

There is more primer paint then there is filler and like i said it only weighs 4.5 lbs thats pretty light i think. Other parts will be soon to come, but they will all be painted as i just don't like the look of raw CF, To Ricer for me. I think i might use kevlar as it is much cheaper now and easier to find.

I guess its hard to tell what it will look like when its painted up, but I agree with you that raw carbon fibre looks far too showy (and yeah, ricer ;) ). Especially since you can bet that most plain carbon panels you see are just stickers ;)
