Silly question really but how many concrete paving slabs (450mm x 450mm x 38mm) would you safely carry spread evenly in the back of a 325 tourer? I need to collect 24 in total and know it's not possible in one go.
I have no idea on weight so any advise much appreciated
Sorry mods if this is the wrong section

well they are about 1.5 feet square?I work in "old money"
can then get two across and probably 3 deep (front to back) in the touring with the seats down.
i'd take 12 at a time and lay them out like this
x=slab
(rear of car)
xx
xx
xx
and make the layers 2 deep. that way you'll only be carrying about 120kg at most.
if you think she's stronger she'll probably take the 240kg all in one (thats about the same as me and my bro on the back seat

Didn't think of that
325i tourer unladen ready to drive 1270kg, gross laden weight 1750kg..
Anyone know an average sort of weight for a slab?? I would have thought more than 10kg per slab

Those slabs will weigh at a guess 25Kg+ each!
Ask the supplier, they will know the weights

You could take some bathroom scales with you. A 12 stone man weights approx 80kg's, I know because that was my race weight for karting.
I assume you need to factor in your own weight (and passengers?) as well as the weight of the slabs

Cheers Cotty, we had decided to only get 12 at first (better to be safe than sorry) and the car didn't look much lower than normal so we thought 'hey what the hell'.
Anyway paving slab saga over thanks to the good old BMW E30 tourer

Nothing's going to break.
You should see my wife's tourer when we set off on holiday for France.
50Kg of caravan noseweight on the towbar, Lord knows how many kilos of food, microwave oven, enough tools to completely rebuild an E30, etc.etc in the back , plus three kids, plus 60Kg of LPG and tank, plus petrol. Headlamps double up as anti aircraft searchlights.

Mine wouldn't have been able to take all those slabs, i wouldn't have had an exhaust left after about a mile

Out of all the E30s I have with headlamp adjusters, (about six or seven), just one side of one of them adjusts slightly.
And they only work on dipped beams.
