Ive been doing a bit of reading and can find 3 diff ratios for the 318i touring.
Im assuming the 4.45 is for the autos, but did the manual have a 4.10 or 4.27 - Ive seen both listed on various websites, although my ETK only lists the 4.27 for the 1990 318i touring.
Im just wondering if I can fit my 3.91 LSD without killing the acceleration too much???
Cheers

yes you can
it'll be the 4.27 in the touring - 4.1 in the saloon and 4.45 is the auto

stick the 3.9 on there. still low, but will make the car more usefull.
the diffs they put on 4 pot tourings make the car useless if you plan to drive anywhere but sainburys. mpg is terrible.
i drove to cambridge from bristol about 6 months ago. 160miles each way i think. took a full tank each way. 85mph if i could, i hate traveling so i dont like to hang around but 85 was the best i could do without the m40 punching its tappets through the bonnet. not a good experience.
i have a 325 scrap shitter as a hack. 80mph at just over 3k. nice in all driving conditions.

Cheers Brian
Yeah, I think the 3.91 is going on there as soon as possible. Coming home from work this morning at 80 mph reving at 4k wasnt much fun
And its an LSD
I now the diff bolts straight in, but do I need the 325i driveshafts or will the 318i ones fit?
