Anyone know what the story is fitting a newer box in an early car as you know longer have the sensors that the earlier boxes had which gave signals for spark and fuel? is there a workaround?

yes, but no mate......

you can swop in the later motronic to get around the issue but thats about it , you'll need the engine loom, ECU and pulse senor plus the 60 tooth trigger wheel.

if you can be arsed, the later Bosch is a worthy upgrade, and its qall plug and play ish, from memory 3 wires need swopping about, I'm sure Ian Haynes/Brainmooooooooore will be able to fill in any blanks

the other choice is standalone it dude, the earlier loom is easier to modify but you'd still need the Pulse/60 tooth wheel to get the triggering

HTHish

yes dude

some boxes have the holes but they've not been machined out fully.
