If you mean sliding the whole seat forwards, when you lift the slider thing it lifts the locking mechanism on one side and pulls a bit of wire that goes along the bottom of the seat to lift the mechanism on the other. The little clips that hold this in can often break so only one side is unlocking, have a loock and see if you see what I mean.

Errr nope wrong lever, pull up on the one nearest the transmisson tunnel and slide the whole seat forwards, like you want to be closer to the pedals. I thought you had tried this and it was broken!

Yeah, the clip has broken on both my seats, any idea where I can get a replacement?

You are a legend, a scholar and a gentleman!! Thanks for the offer. I've got to pop to the dealers anyway, so I'll harass them first I think!! Cheers!

Dealers is best, I'll probably break them taking them off.
Sort of thing that should only be used once, loose their spring, probably why they drop off. In the meantime mate, just wrap a cable tie around it

i think i have caused a bit of confusion here.......
passenger seat.....will slide forward and back no problem
will tilt back and forth no problem
back rest will move forward and back
it will not after pressing down on the rear lever lower the seat by pressing back into seat or raise while shuffling forwards
and this is the problem...i need to raise the seat so i can fasten bolts in the back of seat......is this a clearer description of my problem??

I see what you mean now mate. I don't know how to fix it. Can't you just do them up by sliding it forwards? I'm sure thats all I did on mine.

if it is from a two door car then the seat can be tilted forwards (as if to allow people to get in) amnd this will give plenty of room
if from a four door car the levers won't be there for that,. try oputting the backrest up fully and the seat fully forward
have you tired using a universal joint on the socket?
