Hi

I am doing a 2.7 conversion on my sport with eta block and 325 head.

I'm putting in a Schrick 284/272 cam.

I was wondering if I could put in larger injectors on the rail and would this make any difference to bhp.

If so which ones.

I know I will have to get a zone 2.7 chip is there anything else I would need.

Thanks, Imran

Don't think you'll need bigger injectors mate unless you do away with the AFM ect and go stand alone management. Chip should do. Using larger injectors without remapping the car tends to over fuell.

I've got 535 injectors on my 325i sport. Also got shrick 272/272, 535 AFM with Pipercross filter and 'Zone' chip.

Might need a tweak on the AFM to get the emissions right, but other than that it's fine.

I hear a lot of people talking about 2.7 conversions, are we talking boring out the cylinders to 2700cc

In my opinion I would rather dump the restrictive afm and TB and go ITB's and M/S than bother fiddling around with that stuff. But them were all different etc... I know it would be more work and money but worth it for the flexability.

No for a 2.7 you use a longer throw crank, ther's only just room for a 1mm overbore.

Cheers Widge, I am enlightened!!

Don't know about the head work Daz, it's Busters old engine, and he didn't mention it?

So Guys

Let me get this right!!!?

335I injectors would go with a 335 AFM but I would need a FSE for higher and ajustable Fuel Pres
Chip and Remap.

Would this realy make a big difference to performance or will I still be restricted by the AFM and its not worth the effort.

OK, this is getting confusing then

you dont "need" the M30(535) injectors for the 2.5 or 2.7 i any state of tune when retaining the stock AFM, however there is a torque increase to be has from the swop but its more complicated than you may think....

you need to alter the spring tension on the AFM a few clicks(mark the start !!) to soften it up, then with the bigger airflow comes the extra fuel requirement, so in go the M30 inj, fule pressure up to 3.5bar and tweak the AFM falp til she feels good.

Its all less than pukka but there are results to be had if you can invest the time in it, most give up TBH.

I'm with Widge, ditch the AFM, add MS, the M30 injetcors and map to suit, lots to be gained from this route and its cheaper than you think if you can DIY the tune, or buy a basemapped unit ( from me  ) and get it dialled in later on.

I think I may try th M30 injectors and tweaking the AFM thing and the FSE Ant............... to give me time to build the ITB's winkeye
