can anyone tell me if 1.6 m40 injectors are the same as 1.8 m10 items, i have a full m40 injection unit and a couple need replacing on the m10.

from what ive seen in parts catalogues they are the same, and they look the same, but i cant be sure.

i also heard that the 1.6's where the same as the 1.8's on m40's. surely if this is the case and they fit in i can make it work by adjusting at the airflow meter to compensate for fueling differences?

any help well appreciated :D

Don't think ajusting the AFM would do that much, you'd have to ajust the FPR wouldn't you?

the resistance ratings quoted by haynes are 14.5 - 17.5 ohms for all engines

same again for fuel pressure checks, pump pressure 0.1-0.3 bars. fuel system pressure m10 2.5-3.0 bars. m40 3.0 +/- 0.06 bars

surely if i change the reg aswell?

Yeah but the resistance could be the same and the pressure the same, but one may be slightly larger than the other, so the pressure would need dropping if the injector was going to be used in the smaller engine, or the duration changing, which is an ECU thing, so not easy.

13641734776 M40
13641706058 M10

Different part numbers I'm afraid, although thats not conclusive.

Yeah maybe in 6-12 months, Im thinking of eith er making a 2.7 over the summer. Or making a compound charged 2ltr M10 to go in my kit car, which I still haven't finished after 6 years. Either way I'd want MS.

Lets see if he comes back with the Bosch numbers off the injectors. Is there a bosch injector spec sheet on the net?

the m10 actually flow more than the m40 injectors so really no point putting them in.

Think you need a 2002 2ltr block and crank with oversize pistons to got 2.2 apart from that I don't know. Theres a guy on here with a 2.1 I think?

Well if yo do that you might as well start with a 318is engine, it'll no longer be an M10. 2 ltr is east, it's the engine in the 2002, you just need to convert it to electronic fuel injection, from carbs, 2002, or mech injection 2002tii.
