Hi,

After removing lots of wires from my dash to strip it for a re-spray, and plugging them all back in the horn is doing odd things. I have checked all the connections etc so am stuck.

When i turn on the ignition the horn comes on and wont go off! If i unplug it and plug it back in it stops, but as soon as i stop and start it again the horn comes on. Any ideas? I have unplugged it for now to stop the noise! Fuse problem??!

Thanks.

Thanks. My problem is not the horn not working, but working too much, so most of that seems ok. The fuse numbers may be useful though.

Thanks :) .

Any body else had this or a similar problem?

Ignition on (2nd switch position) or aux (1st switch position)?

You said ignition on (2nd position) in OP. If I don't get accurate info., I can't give accurate advice! It's important to get these details right.
There's a brown/yellow wire that runs from the fusebox to the back of the carbon brush mounted on the lower side of the start of the steering column.
Most likely is that you've trapped this wire somewhere, and it's being shorted to the car body. Alternatively there's a problem behind the steering wheel when you put it back on. (assuming you took it off when removing the dash.

Hi,

Sorry, i thought that first position also meant the ignition was on, my lack of knowledge on that one. I did not actualy take the steerig wheel off, as the dash was not fully removed, it was masked up and re sprayed in the car. (sounds terriable, but looks spot on!). I did however start removing the panelling arround the steering collumn, maybe as you say a wire is trapped. I will check this today.

Thanks Brian,
