A little Google action found me THIS

Which told me that my Touring did 24.05 mpg on the last fill which I reckon isn't bad for the thrashing it gets on the commute from in town to country roads via dual carriageway/fast A road.

I wonder how much of the fuel you put in the tank actually gets burnt? How much goes out the exaust unburnt, leaks out of my old cracked pipes or evaporates in the tank?

Got the cruise fitted now, so will aim to do better this afternoon (& no, that wasn't driving at 55 everywhere)!

hmm 37mpg? :? in a 318i

from windermere in the lakes to dolgellau wales, i only stuck £20 in it and still had some left in the tank. was mostly motorway though and i rarely went over 70mph

The touring managed about 35mpg from stansted airport to the lakes on £32.50 of petrol

No, sat nav is for people who don't want to read a map while driving!
Wouldn't dream of using it on foot (unlike some of my mates), or when a passenger, but it's sooooooo much better when you're driving to somewhere you've never been before (or if the passenger's female / incapable of reading a map ;) ).

I'm comfortable enough in my masculinity and sexuality so I don't feel threatened by using modern technology or by asking for directions as a slight on my manliness!!

However, real men drive rwd!!! hahahahaah!!!

just reading the fuel saving tips:

Fuel saving tips -
Allow the car to drift the last 700 yards up to a junction rather than accelerate all the way.

(drift? formula D is it?)

Avoid braking and stopping
(WTF?)

If its hot open the window rather than turn on the air conditioning, if it's really hot open another window and turn the blowers on, if your steering wheel starts melting then turn on the air conditioning. (are these people funny?)

Fuel magnets did not work for me I wouldn't bother with them!!!
(what the hell are they??)

I have been to a lecture with one of my mates in Marine Technology all about fuel magnets. I didn't believe it till I was told all the thory by a little grey haired lecturer! Apparently it alignes the fuel molecules or somthing which allows for more efficient fuel atomisation etcc.... So it only really makes a differance on huge diesel engines as used in boats because of the huge injector pressures etc...

So you could remember exactly how to find a house in north east london, then one in some random li'l town near Liverpool, without having to look at a map? Dya stay in and study A to Zs for a living?!

& I'm quite happy that I'm a real man. Think I might go and buy myself a ford streetka to prove it. :gay:

Yeah my OBC lies like a Persian Rug.

If you fitted the 6 branch you'd have 2 branches for each cylinder!!!!!!!!!!

27.79mpg.

That's in a 1.8 cab, mostly motorway :clin:

Plus as it's a 318 I don't even have enough power to manage the first of their fuel-saving tips

i hired a Zafira 1.6 petrol (not through choice - hire co considered this an upgrade from a normal astra  ) a month or so back, it was terrible on fuel when doing 80/90 on a motorway run.

We too the piss big stylee coming back, me and the missus decided to stick a load of baby on board stickers in the back window. Must have been quite funny seeing the family wagon blatting past at 110 which I managed to get out of it at one point.

Terrible throttle pedal position, like driving a bedford CF van!

ive wondered this.
turbo cars just pour fuel into the exhaust, to help keep the turbo cool??

friends impreza isnt that bad on fuel if he drives sensible. but nearly every gear change it backfires and shoots a flame. and thats without the flame kit on.

yeah but no-one looks at the t5 :D

22mpg was good on a run in my 735i and thats the lowest the 320 has ever given-so it'll be getting plenty of abuse
