Think I might try to refurb my wheels, but haven't got a clue as to what to do. It looks like they may have been done before as there are patches that go back to a rough alloy. Do they have to be sand blastered?

Just a word of caution fellas.
Try to see some examples of peoples work before parting with your cash.

I recently sent my Hartges for a refurb to a guy down in Kent (he advertises on another BM site) on the recommendation of a good mate of mine.
They were bent to buggery & needed straightening + the paint was a bit dull.

Because he was recommended, I didn't give it a thought & handed over £220 before seeing them. WHAT A MUPPET I WAS :cheese:

His idea of straightening them was to stick them in a lathe & skim them down as much as was needed.
They now look a bit odd with the edge of the rim looking uneven.

His painting skills are also from the cowboy school.

There are particles of dust, crap, dead cats, etc embedded into the paint. I can quite readily identify what the crap is, because the f***ing paint is that thin, it's almost opaque
I put some ordinary masking tape on the rim edges to help protect them as I transported them round to the tyre fitter.
I stood over him as he fitted the tyres & he was as gentle as a lamb with them. Brilliant thought I.

Then he took the masking tape off......... and bloody great flakes of the paint came with it.
He must have used f***ing Teflon in the preparation of the surface.

I do hope this little :wan: reads this and recognises himself because I would like to advise him that I will NOT be sending photos of the car for him to use on his new website and guess what?
I won't be recommending him either

i think this is who done my wheels...

is it near sevenoaks in Kent and his mate has a black e36 with Gullwing doors?

I'm not impressed either as after 3 months the laquer on the rims is peeling!!! not a good way to spend 200 quid!
