bought a 325i from another zoner, who had it as a track car.

which is exactly what we wanted, however we decided to tax/ insure it aswell as it was cheaper than buying a trailer/ tow car.

the day we bought it
Image

headlights were looking dirty
Image

so removed them cleaned them up, also dechromed the kidney grills, and painted the lower half of the bumper black (along with the grills) - still want to dechrome the rest of the car, (also sprayed the little scuttley bit under the headlights black aswell)
Image

Image

Image

debadged it, and polished it 8O dunno why
Image

decided to do some more stripping of interior, so removed both doorcards, and kick panels, also sprayed the footwells
Image

Image

removed ski hatch and all unecessary wiring, from the rear, generally tidied it up a bit
Image

now - can any help me out here, we had 2 lots of wires coming from the side of the dash - can anyone shed any light on what they do, or can we rip them out:

whats this? was unplugged so i plugged it back in
Image

first lot or wires
Image

and this was dangling down aswell, so i mounted it in the stereo slot, when i hold the CHECK light, they all light up - but not sure if its essential, or what it does?

thanks for reading! my first few days of ownership have been great!

Nice little project there! Should be lots of fun when its finished.

The wire by the gearstick is from the box to the rear lights to show the reverse light.

The check light thing is to show any faults. When something goes wrong the corresponding light will show. I think the button to bring them all on is just for test purposes or to clear them or something. :)

No idea what the other wires are though.

They are like go karts when lowered. Mine is down at least 60mm and handles well but is too low for the roads and speed bumps round here plus the front wheels are catching on the arches even on 15s so Im raising it to a 35mm drop on a H&R Cup kit. :D

sounds like you're sorted then

thankfully speedbumps are a rareity (sp?) around here, so thats not too bad.

the car has avo adjustable shocks, so should be able to tinker about with those.

Hi Olz

Maybe's worth junking the passenger side main beam unit to get a good cold air feed to the air box. If you put some silver gauze in there it kind of resembles the look of a lamp from a distance

good work though fella 8)

hi lee - thanks for the idea about the passenger side fullbeam unit, even better as it's a Pipercross Induction Kit on it too

maxfield - its all prepped for a cage, sunroof been sealed up and the channels cut out, also the shell has been drilled ready for a 6-point OMP one, just haven't got the money to get one... so it will be coming in the future.

LSD is much priority at the moment!

Bottlecap - they're Avo adjustables

Dan - nice one - cheers, large it is then!

We went to lower it last night, put the springs on to find they are the same height as what was on currently (circa 20mm) :(

So I need to find some springs again, might buy brand new -80mm ones, at least then I know they are -80mm, and not just guessing

How much can I expect to pay for black plastic surrounds to the windows, bumpers and rubstrips, as opposed to chrome ones?

Looks good dude, i should be getting a new car in september and hoping to do the same to my e30, ive got a set of springs if you want them. i bought them off some dude who said they were 50 or 60mm lower, i then bought a spax psx kit 60mm lower and were pretty much the same.
