ok just gonna start investigating why me grey 320 died

could a dodgy crank sensor cause the car to give a big black dirty puff of smoke then refuse to start again??

i have fuel up, it has full spark it should be firing but not a chance turns and turns but gets nowhere

someone suggested crank sensor but just wanted to double check get someoppinions

see what else i can check at same time

cheers

black smoke=well rich....is it flooded?is the obvious answer....
check plugs ,cap,arm

faulty crank sensor could cause i suppose -but check the easiest first as above.

Sounds possible mate, worth fitting a known good sensor from one of your other motors 8O

if she has fuel and spark there is nothing wrong with the crank sensor so save yourself a job Daz

pull the ICV out of the intake manifold and crank her over a few times, she should run, if she catches whack the ICV back in and keep her running til shes up to temp

did ya try what ant said?

what was your spark like?
,allthough u may see a random spark -faulty crank sensor is not to be ruled out,but generally if it fails as it initiates the spark, often it results in a non starter.give it a look over m8 before u lash out.

I'm as stumped as everyone else
It may sound daft but if it backfired could it have jammed the throttle plate or damaged the AFM ?

didnt even backfire just seemed like it was down a cylinder very lumpy then puffed the smoke out and died on me

I had the same thing a couple of months back just after i'd been using it for work, just went pop and wouldn't start for a couple of days and didn't have time to look at it, then when i went to have a look it just worked as normal :? I think it just wanted a day off.
You could try disconnecting the battery for a few hours to let the ECU power down

I'm still stumped :( i guess all you can do is go through it piece at a time and check everything over and i bet even when you get it going you won't be sure what the problem was
Best of luck :thumb:

I'd look at trying another AFM - I've had similar 'backfire' symptoms to what you describe & whilst you still get wet plugs & a spark, the bugger won't start if the AFM's given up.
