Hi Guys,
Called BMW a few minutes ago looking for the parts numbered : 9-10-11 on the pic below, they reckoned it's production has ended, is there an alternative ? Could i take it from an e36 and cut to fit under my hood ?

I could have sworn you could still get this from BMW.
There isn't a big BMW place like 2 stroke to Turbo for th old Saabs is there?

Honest, called 2 Dealerships... they can no longer get the centre piece, they might be able to get the left and right side. Is there an alternative...

That's rediculous, I suppose you have to look for a breaker and work out some way of getting the stuff off. Or find some similar material and cut it to size. Maybe an E36 bit will be bigenoug to cut down to size, you need to look under an E36 bonnet.

I bought one of these not long back, try asking for part number 12, as it comes as a kit all in one.
Forget trying to remove one from a breaker, it won't happen!!

Mate if your willing to pay postage to SA then I'll go and see if it is in stock over here. I need to go to BMW anyway. No idea what postage would be like though.

Hey £26 that's not bad.
Tell your dealers you know its avalible and you don't care if they have to order it from Germany, that's the sort of service you expect!!! And then mutter about buying a Merc for you next company car or whatever.

Under hood insulation for an M3, it's a large one piece item, totally different to the normal E30 type.

funny i should see this, when i was fitting my DEPOs today the bonnet blew down and now bits of this are falling off.
will or can it do any damage if any was to get around the cam belt? its pretty crumbly, i have thought not but does anyone know any different?
i have also seen from other cars, unless you take out ALL sound defence stuff there is not a lot to be noticed. not sure about the E30s but im not bothered.

Does this stuff stop any potential extra heat transfering to the bonnet and screwing up the paint..??

I doubt there enough heat under a bonnet to effect paint, unless you have a 5ltr v12 or shit paint!
