Sorry if this has been written about before in depth but a search proved fruitless.

The Brake Fluid Dashboard light on my 318i started flashing on and off seemingly with the cars vibrations last week. Now it seems to be on more than off and seemingly not so linked to vibrations but rather the use of the brake itself...fluid level is more than fine.

I am thinking some sort of electronic issue, but any experiences here?

best

Pauly

There isn't a brake fluid warning light on the instrument cluster. Handbrake warning light, and brake pad wear light which is probably the one you mean. The nearside front pads are connected by a wire to a sensor. When the pad is worn down the light flashes/stays on to let you know you need to replace them.

HTH.

Thanks for the reply, however the light is indeed brake fluid on the 318i E30.

Circle with the exclamation mark in = Brake Hydraulics.

Handbrake has a P in the circle instead of the !

and Brake Lining Wear is similar to both but has nothing within the circle.

Thanks

Check the connections to the brake fluid cap; probably corroded.
