right on every single e30 ive had it always seems to have a problem with the window seal and when your motorway driving it whistles like the door is open still.

does anyone else have this problem and is it common?

how do i sort it? is it just a case of a new seal?

cheers for any advice

eun

mines quite loud but it doesn't have a roof winkeye

no really the window lifter has probably dropped down a bit due to age and door slamming etc, it propably only needs adjusting to lift the window up a bit and thus it will make a good seal again. never had issues with adjusted windows in E30's not like the E36 which had no door frame, now they can whistle!!

if not that then adjust the door latch (and hinges if necessary) Check bentley manual as it covers this topic well.

Mine's ridiculously loud even with the roof up and economy is shit as well. Gonna have to buy another car I think.

As Mr. Lee says it's just some adjustment that's necessary.

just noticed yer in plymouth, and looks a bit like the Ho in yer sig pic, yay or no. Was down there for a few years before i came out here to Bahrain, still got a flat in Lipson area!

surprised you see motorway anyway tucked out the way down there!! and no the 3 lane bit of the A38 does not count winkeye

used to love that run from Exeter up the hill, back in my day there was no speed cameras on the whole section from Exeter to Plymouth (1993-1997ish), had a 318i and used to cane it the whole way (well as much as a 318i can be caned!!!)

The convertable is actually quieter with the roof down and the wind deflector in than with it up. Unless there is a cross wind and the ariel is up! Then it whistles like a slapper in a hurricane.

Well I couldn't believe how loud it was at 100 on my private test track the other day. So much better with the roof down. Although at that speed it can get a bit nippy.

Mine makes no noise that i have noticed. Guess i have been lucky on this point so far. My exhaust gets annoying though, quite tireing. :?

yeah that was near the hoe. winkeye

i love doing the ivybridge run and back. up the hill from marsh mills
but as you come onto the bottom of the slip road off the roundabout
you've got that slight left hand bend with a bump i have to let off there even though im in second gear cos else it snakes all the way up the hill.
but the torque of the 2.5 normally sees off a lot of cars up that hill im normally pushing 115-120 when i get to the bend at the top. winkeye

its just doing my head in with the bastard whistling.

im seeing a new girl and ive gotta take her out in it as she wants a ride
and i wanna ride her but i gotta get that fixed so i can give it some proper caning :D
