you can actually buy it as a piece, which you can spray to own car colour if you wish.

As Johnono says, make sure you rub it down to get a good key for the primer and give it two coats. I used the halfords Satin black too, again two coats and it came up alright...

Or you could just be a real cheapskate like me and remove the chrome trim lol.
My second preference would be to spray it satin, but certainly not pay good money to someone who has just done the same lol.

when you remove the trim, does it leave a nice black plastic thing?
or does the whole thing just get left out?

if u mean, to detatch the chrome kidneys.. then no, its best to leave them on and spray the entire peice complete.
to remove the grill slats either side is easy, just a few clips on top, and a couple of screws down by the headlights.
even better yet, just buy a new set of grills if u´re flush ;)

Me thinks this is a great idea. I'll also be doing it shortly. Should imagine some rather smooth wt n dry is required.TW166Y wrote:perv........ serious though now, what grain etc and what kind of paper to take the shione off so it can be sprayed... im going to do my grill and kindney... cheers lads
Are we laquering our handiwork too? Think I may go for a rummage around a scrappy to tea leaf one to practice on.

Ah stealers expect a bit of tea leafing. Hence their silly prices, they're charging you for what you've crammed in your pockets. I'm undecided about Matt or Gloss. Think it would need co-ordinating with the grille?tonyppe wrote:dont get caught tea leafing tho.

Horses for courses. Was reading about those cool German plates but I'm not German. Makes me laugh how we are so comforable branding any nations flags other than our own for fear of offending some lefty who interprets it as a fascist statment. Seems like we are embarrassed to be English!TW166Y wrote:wet n dry 'smooth' ..... plastic primer and satin black... job done... im thinking i may do a german flag too in the grill itself.. like the m-tech design but only with the german colours... will only be small but i think it will look great??
Anyway rant over!! Have your soap box back. Got to say, spraying the grille will be a right fecker!! What with all the tiny gaps. Depends on how you do the German flag really. I peronally wouldn't do it. What about lacquering?

It's cool mate, not a dig, I was reflecting on how comfortable we'd be with painting a german flag on our car but how conscious we'd be and feel about painting our own flag on our car!!! Think about it!!!TW166Y wrote:Mate im proud as fcuk to be English................................
