This is doing my head in.
When you look on websites for new suspension for an E30, there is always a note say "Mtech vehicles will sit lower than quoted"......why is this when the only thing which determines how low a vehicle sits is the springs.....which you are changing!!
Cant see how a normal 325i and a 325i mtech would differ in height having exactly the same suspension setup installed.
AAARRRGGGGHHH
Cant get my head around this....

What about shocks?
I'm told that cabs have M Tech shocks but standard springs, and my cab certainly sits lower than my 2-door with standard shocks/springs.

I'm not sure but this might be because the measure they use are from standard, m-tech is already a bit lower so the respective drop is then also a bit lower

Thats my point:
say a mtech sits 20mm lower than a normal 325i....this is only due to the mtech struts and springs.
Replace the mtech struts and springs with a 60mm kit and it should be exactly the same as a normal 325i with a 60mm kit
Pointless discussion I know but its been bugging me for ages now.

I would have thought the same. The only difference in the 325 height and the sport height was because of the springs and shocks therefore if you fit the same kit to both they will be the same?
Did you just sell a Cup Kit on ebay by any chance?

this is the same as the escort rs turbo vs xr3i debate.
in theory an rs turbo sits 20mm lower than the xr3i so a -40 kit for a 3i will lower a turbo 20mm not 40mm.
hope that has made some sense lol

all suspension quotes are made from standard ride height.
m-tech is 15mm lower than standard. So if u wanna drop your 318is or sport on 35mm springs, it's only going to lower it 20mm get me?
but it will drop a 325i on standard suspension 35mm
hth

going by the technical brochure produced in 1990, the 318is and 325i sport sit 20mm lower than standard.
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!
