Is it normal to need to file the metal down a bit on a new alternator so that the new one will fit in the brackets within the engine bay? Because, although the new alternator looked identical to the old one when i exchanged it at GSF today, I can't get it to fit in the lower bracket in the engine bay for love nor money.
However, I dont want to start filing bits off metal off my £80 alternator if its the wrong one and needs swapping.
Fitting new alternator - quick question
