Right my car is curently running with the thermostat jammed open as it was playing up and randomly sticking, Now that ive jammed it open the car is running at about 1/4 on the guage at the most after a good long hard run.

does this temp sound about right when running with no stat? Im getting a new thermostat tomorrow but reason i ask is since we swapped the engine i had been having probs with random overheating and air locks in the coolant.

1/4 sounds about right when driven hard, with air temps what they are about now.

I've been told that you should never rn an e30 with the thermostat jammed open as coolant cannot get round one of the cylinders, i forget which one it is now, but the thermostat on an e30 also causes motion in the coolant in order to redirect flow. This is what i've been told anyway.

cheers,

john
