should slot in Len, our mates over the pond have used the same unit with great sucess.

Core looks to be a decent size from the bricks SAAB do a similar unit with entry and exit on the same side if you can't get it to fit as you want/need

Should fit as my rads from a saab.
Bit of a bonus that the pipes on it are 2.5" same as my intake pipes
Its gonna be a bit tight as im going to have to get one pipe from the charger to the other side of the car and back again.

Ant are you running an electric fan between your intercooler and rad or is it an OE one?
Also is that your car in the back of ppc?

I've got that big Volvo IC mounted quite far forward (against the back of the bumper), and a slim Spal fan between. i had only around 7cm between back of IC and front of rad.

looks like a nice IC

If it won't go in, find a Volvo 760/740 one, big, 2.5 stubs and usually cheap.

My main concern is im running a push throu fan in front of the rad. was thinking if the intercooler is the other side of that wont any hot air that gets blown back from the fan heatup the intercooler? or am i just worring about nowt?

hmm not sure about that...

i have the opposite issue, which is the water rad getting fed hot air which the fan's dragged thru the IC... might have to put an oil cooler on but we'll see hot how it runs first.

i take it the saab rad is far forward in the front mask, and the IC is too wide to put in the front mask if you could move the rad backward?

if all else fails, E28 535i rad plus Volvo 760 IC dude, with the IC in front and a fan sandwiched between. it does fit!

Mine's too perfect a fit not too use but given the new parts I wonder if it'll be a little weak to handle the new pressure levels, will have to datalog and find out.

I'm quite lucky that my IC and rad don't overlap at all, the IC sits low and in front of the cross member, just above the oil cooler too. Still on the viscous fan which has, due to it falling off the shelf and sitting flat on the floor for a few days, seized on so I have constant cooling, which is handy Another oem part to buy tho

That looks good lennie. We have one of those saab 'coolers in our *cough japcrap* 200sx. They are supposed to handle about 300bhp whilst retaining the desired cooling affect. Should have some fun with that, it wasn't intercooled before was it?

the heat tranfer from IC to rad on mine has never been an issue, even in the short hot summer we had last year, intake temps were well within safe limits, heat soak was not apparent

the IC will really only be working under high load/boost so I doubt there'd be issues with either pull or push IC location , not when stationary anyways...

Very unsucessfull weekend! spent all day saturday cutting and welding the front of my motor to get this bloody intercooler mounted behind the rad. only to find that i cant squeeze the rad back in after

theres just not enough space in front of the supercharger an pulley.

Back to the drawing board

Ant i did think about that but was trying to avoid all the extra plumbing it will need! but im thinking thats the only option.

Mark did hold it up there but due to the size of it would need the whole bonnet off. would be tho.

Will be stopping to see a guy about some pipes tonight see if he recons he can pipe it.

Joking aside though, the 2wd ones are supposedly good for 280bhp I seem to recall, and they're fairly compact.

Hell yeah! Getting on for a full car now! Got my mate with the 205 coming along too All booked in for the 9th of May

Sorted out my boost gauge so that it reads from all cylinders now and doesn't shake about like mad. Thought I was getting 0.5bar of boost, turns out it's more like 0.7! Mmmmmm, 10psi and it loves it!

Idles a bit smoother now all the ports are linked too which is nice

I tryd fitting it in the front mask and the endcaps are too big to go between the 2 bumper mounts
Now just need an early 32?i rad like this

After i cut too much out to mount it anyware else. made a bracket to hold the top if the intercooler

And some for the bottom to sit on the OE ones

Welded in a lower radiator extension

And turned up a top one to match

Its all in there a bit tight tho


Now just have to plumb it in (Orange to intake Blue to supercharger)

I think the engine only twists.
I have driven it didnt seem to contact

There is only 8mm gap but the rad is well mounted so if the engine stays in place will all be good!

Alas, I've lost all my boost as the bloody Emerald is refusing to upload PWM settings

Dont know if its made any change to the air temp as i had to disconect ait temp sensor! the boost has droped to about 5psi did spot a few small leaks on a few of the joints.

thats the dowside of the IC, you do get a pressure drop

density will be up so overall you should be evens again Tidy Len, V nice

Can feel a big diferance in temps on the pipes
Didnt knock at all tho had the charger on for ages too.

Think some boost is getting lost, first time presure test i got a few puffs of moisture from under the clamps. will have to invest in some nice stainless bandclamps to finish it off.
