Remove inspection covers under rear seats, and remove wiring connectors and vent hoses.
Remove feed and supply pipes in front of left rear wheel arch.
Remove rear exhaust section, propshaft heat shields and dissconnect rear of propshaft, pulling down the centre bearing to do so.
Drain tank, if the drain plug will co-operate.
Dissconnect rubber filler hose to the tank.
Unscrew the bolts and one nut that hold up the tank. A couple of the bolts are difficult to get a socket on.
Check the condition of the rear brake pipes while the tank is off

Thanks!!
Sounds like a pig of a job.
Are these bolts liable to snap as they are exposed?

Bolts are tucked fairly well up and don't suffer from serious rust issues. Nothing that an hour or two's soak with WD40 won't cure, anyway.
Never had one snap

Brian seems to have covered the procedure in a few simple steps.
For more information you can take a look in the tech articles coz I've got a piece in there on how to remove/refit the tank and it goes into more detail.

One other point you might like.
If the drain plug on the tank wont budge then connect a suitadle length of hose to the outlet on the fuel pump and hook it up to a battery or jump start pack to remove most of the fuel from the tank(used this method just recently and it works a treat)

My advise............
Get someone else to do it.
I had a true Nightmare with mine.
