Bad news peeps, the BMW failed its mot today.

Rear silencer missing (straight through pipe)
Front o/f and n/s floor pans corroded badly
Front shock absorbers are week
NSF brake pipe corroded

Looks like its going to cost more than the cars worth to rectify the above.

I could probably fix the above apart from the floor pans.
What do you think, new car time ?

On the bright side I fixed the heater !!!

rust is never that easy to fix, sounds like you will need to get a new floor or fabricate something, either way i see $$$. so 2 Q's
1) how much you love this car, is there sentimental value?
2) do u see ur self driving in another color?

Shop around for a price on the welding and do the rest yourself.

Sorry to hear about the MOT repairs, ive got rusty floorpan issues myself and after phoning BMW and euro car parts i ahve been told they they do not make the floor pans anymore so some fabrication my be needed.
Unless anyone else know where they can be sourced from?
As Zay says the rest you could do yourself.

Price for the welding is still going to be around £200+ plus the other parts needed.
The car only cost £350 when I brought it, and it's done its job keeping me dry over the winter ( back to the bike now ;-) )
I will probably end up throwing it through a local car auction and see what I get back.

No sentimental value.
2) do u see ur self driving in another color?
Driving another colour or car ? colour yes I'm not racist —a car I'm not to fussed

I'll probably get another banger will see what pops up. Cheap is the name of the game.

Gutted mate, but surely its not that bad?

How bad are the front floors?
If its only the jacking points then this is a common and striaght forward repair, and if you do half the work by taking out the carpet etc then cost should come down somewhat!

Rest is easy :)

Normally Id say fix it but when the car was that cheap to buy anyway its hard to justify spending so much on it.

Rusty floorpans are not too difficult to repair, best is to find an E30 in a scrap yard with decent floors, cut them out and get them welded in.
