Speaking from personal experience, i have had a toad alarm and a clifford.
The toad was a cheaper model and the clifford was a concept 300 with smartwindows and intelistart. Niether on bmw's.
For me the toad was the better alarm, less problems and a good level of protection. the clifford was grief and just too many tricks.

ive never had a toad on any of my cars so cant comment on that but have never any problems with clifford at all and all my cars have had clifford on them. with clifford id say its down to the installation rather than the alarm itself

I had a clifford on the Beamer and it wasnt that good tbh, the car before that I had a Laserline alarm on and it never played me up or let me down in 5 years, not once so thats what I'd go for just from experiance

have a clifford concept 300 with the proximity sensor on my cab. No problems with the alarm, roof up or down.
Have problem with my central locking now though. I think the muppets who installed it may have brken off a rivited piece from inside the door. There's evidence it's been glued back on.
I don't have any CL now. Need to find an example (working) that I can take apart from a 3 door (the 5 door is different) or see an exploded diagram to know what the hell is going on and what's broken from where.
So yes, the alarm is fine but it is down to the consciencousness of the installer (they didn't even put the door loom boots back on the connectors!)

I have a concept 600 clifford, with the in and out side sensor, glass smash sensor, immobiliser, electric windows, back up battery and when my car returns i will be adding a pager, only problem is the outside sensor, on a windy day, with the car not in the garage, it either sets the alarm off, or the outer sensor beeps non stop, which is annoying. i think it cost me £500 + at the time but was money well spent.
