Decided to get the 3.6 M5 back on the road.

I've already done some subtle mods like H&R springs and powerflex bushes.

Brake calipers are a bit sticky so new ones need to be sourced.

Went for a drive and what a fantastic piece of machinery it is. Makes the 215bhp Alpnia feel slow over 60mph. Not as brutal as my 3.8 but as a daily driver its brilliant.

The best kept secret about these M5's is that the fuel economy is now worse than a 325i and the insurance (for me) is actually cheaper!

So thats 2 M5's insured for the price of one 325i!

Yes I know I'm greedy for having two and a half M cars (E30 M3 half owned).

I aint rich!

If I was the E30 m3 would be all mine and it would have a good 300bhp and make amazing noises.

I've just been lucky with these cars, they came at the right time when I had some cash saved up.

Bill,

It is quite cool having these cars but when things go wrong they aint cheap. The 3.8 brakes are 343mm and cost 110+VAT each! Pads aint cheap either.

Insurance is cheaper - why I dont know. I've always used a company called Heritage. My 325iT was more expensive.

It's mad but I aint complaining!!

I really do have to get some pictures....
