hi,firstly......since i replaced my rad my temp sits just over halfway,it used to just past the quarter,i dont like it this high! all the pipes get very hot and ive replaced the thermostat. the weird thing is that even at that high temp when i turn the engine off and feel the rad it feels cold all over, does the fan really keep it that cold??? ive opened the bleed screw loads with the heater on full and just water comes out, strange one!
also,i still have a leak,i had my windscreen re-fitted but im still getting a trickle in the corner behind the bonnet release, doing my f**kin headin!! the carpets been out for weeks! ive sealed the rubber grommet where the wires and headlight adjuster hoses come through, definetly not coming from there, only thing i can think of is if its coming through where the bonnet release hose comes through? ive had the dash completey ou but taht is still hidden behind the wiring and soundproofing, theres absolutely no rust as ive taken the fusebox off and looked under and its solid,im gonna fit a drip tank soon and be done with it!!! got that 3.5 to put in soon but i need to sort this first!! cheers for any help!!

sorry just read your post again and note you have replaced the thermostat. Also that you have beld it plenty.
Hmm, if it is chucking plenty of water out with the bleed screw open this suggests the water pump is doing as it should.
Was it a new rad or a second hand one?

tel, the rad should get hot, that's the whole point, they are not that efficient at cooling down.
as the other fella says, can only really be an air lock of sorts
not sure how you sort that, would you pull the bottom hose off and drain and start again???
