hello i'm new to this site, it was recomended to me from a member on another bmw site. basically i need to know what each of these wires do/connect to from the back of this E30 obc. heres a basic description of it
it has 6 buttons
h/DAT min/DAT
HOUR DATE
TEMP MEMO
On the back there is a green plug with 9 wires coming from it
1 red & brown
2 solid brown
3 red & white
4 blue & brown
5 yellow & brown
6 solid blue
7 grey & red
8 grey & purple
9 white & brown
any help on this problem would be great, basicaly i have an analogue clock and i want to fit this so i at least get the time and maybe the outside temp( i have the temp sensor aswell.

all i need to do is figure out which wires goto temp sensor and which are needed to power the obc so i can get clock function and temp function, not bothered about the start code thing or buzzer or the steering column stalk.

Not sure if it will work without the relay control module. See retro fit write up in tech section of Articles....click at top of page.
And welcome to the zone.

thanks for that, though it doesnt tell me what each wire does you see the cable from the back of my obc has been cut, and all i want is the basic functions of clock and temp, though mine being only a 6 button i think that is the basic obc anyway.

Ok, basic 6 button obc doesn't have a stalk, code function and also no seperate relay box. I think to get any kind of life out of it you will need the large yellow connector for the back of the clocks, this is where it draws it's power from. If you want the temperature function you will also need a seperate loom that runs through the bulkhead and down to the passenger airduct where the temp' sensor is located. Afraid i can't help with the individual wiring question, but as per title, i'm sure Mr. Moooooooore will be along with the answers.

thanks for the pic, hee hee but that just brings more questions up, i'm no expert when comes to electrical stuff, if i was going to go by the picture i'd splice all the power cables together and the ilumination cables together and join them both to my clocks power, the brown to my clocks brown and the blue to the sensor i have.... does anyone know if im on the right track or am i going to blow up my car? lol

power it up by connecting the wires together when NOT connected to the car first. then if all is well (not fried) fit it to the car.
TBH its pretty easy to get the 6 button clock to work.
