This is the thing about my 323i. It handles well and is well balanced and everything and everything but it dosen't make me smile

. On the track maybe but on public roads it just doesn't. Mine doesn't sound so great inside the car either, the exhaust note is great but from inside the car it kind of sounds a bit rattly (sp?) and not so special.
I think part of the reason I dont have so much fun is because of the controls. The gearchange is a bit slow and baulky, the brake pedal is very spongy. My steering is too light as well because of the E36 steering rack conversion (I didn't get the pully on the power steering changed or something). Also I think that the big ratio gaps in the gearbox don't help.
But for some reason when I get back in my 1974 Mitsubishi Lancer I have a smile on my face before I get to the end of the street. It doesn't handle quite as well (although it does ok considering it has some dodgy tyres) and it isn't as refined as the E30, but I think all the controls are just right and the gear ratios are close together.
Glad to hear all you guys are enjoying yourselves though.
