Aah it's not that bad

Just draw everything at full scale and print it out at 1:1.

That way you can cut around the paper bit and make sure it fits before sending it off

critical thing now is to get the exhaust manifold flanges cut, which worryingly means finding a CAD package and then learning how to use it

Martin (pbmw blue m3 turbo) works in a CAD shop, I know he knows what he is doing, maybe worth a ask?? Based this way too.

i sent this lot www.sciss.co.uk the 2D .dxf file of it and they cut it for me in about 5 days. cost about Ԛ£32 all in iirc. it'll probably be a lot less for yours as you'll have more of them to cut!

Ooh, that water cut by any chance?

Some say they can laser cut to that thickness (which is nice and cheap) some say they can't though for some reason

yup, water cut! it's great! none of the molten burry shite that lazer cutting leaves. you could almost shave with the perfect 90Ԛ° edge though!

i'm hoping it will be no worse or maybe better

when it was NA, around town was the 15-20 mpg you expect, but on a cruise it wouldn't do much better due to short gearing (the 3.64 LSD was about right for acceleration but too short on the motorway). used five whole tanks to get to le mans and back last year.

anyway, i've got an M3 3.25 LSD to go on with the turbo. so the theory is it should pull the longer gears ok on boost, but cruising off boost in top shouldn't rinse the fuel too badly

...alternative answer is, yes the economy will probably be shocking.

looks like the rim on the right is a ritchey logic one? and the one on the left is a mavic one in that odd 'titanium' anodizing they did for a while.

i gave up with shimano when sram and gripshift arrived but i have a '93 xtr rear hub still! it's had 10 rims on so far!

spooky... maybe it's a natural progression from MTB's to high power E30's!!! now where's my anorak!

it's a steep learning curve dek

the thing below the manifold is a wastegate. it allows the exhaust to bypass the turbo once the required boost level is reached, to stop the boost going too high.

some turbos have internal wastegates.

I have to agree a twin exit would look the balls, but either way, its coming on very well... cant wait to hear it let alone see it done! hehe.

If you need a twin pipe box, I have a peco twin pipe back box (may be a bit puney for this application) and also a brand spakers twin pipe alpina B10 back box (e28) that may do the trick if you stuck in a Y pipe before it... let me know if you want it.

Looks good Toby, is it 2.5" or 3" pipe work?

It does need either a larger or twin tailpipe, although the small pipe does help with the 316i disguise

i've never seen an exhaust stick that far out the back before,
but i think it'll need supporting, 'cos it'll just rub away on the road like that

yeah. the whole lot's made from an aftermarket system off an RS Turbo

i'm getting a bit worried now, this might be a bit loud

i was thinking 1 box would be ok, because the last system i had on was straight pipes and a 328i backbox, and it was very quiet... but that box was huge and weighed a ton. this one weighs sod-all and is straight through.

hopefully the turbine will dampen it a bit
