I have found the cause of my tapping!
Image
After more dismantling im 100% this is whats wrong!
Image
The top one is the old one! the other is the new!?!
Mesured new one it is 2.5mm out! also mesured 4 spare ones all the same.
So the adjusters were only just on top of the valves!

State of play as of last night
Image

Just hope they (ecp) have another one in stock.

God that rocker shaft is lousy !

I'm using more genuine parts these days as i wasn't sure about the quality of some ECP/GSF parts, it depends on how expensive the part is though i supose.

Sounds like you will be back on the road soon Len 8)

Is your S/C roots or twin screw ?

Which car is it from ?

Andy its a roots from a clk merc.

Well its all together again.
After changing the rockershaft i fired it up and it still sounded like a bag of nails but that turned out to be the camshaft one tooth out so after changing the belt and cam timing it sounds sweet as :D
Just got to wait till the end of the month to get tax now

Yep, that was me. No probs mate. It's a shame really, cos if you were closer we could rig up the wide band and det cans and i reckon we could have that driving 100% better within an avo of live mapping.

GUTTED i missed this

I had mine running again last night, new uprated bolts and gasket and some fresh paint while I was there

Lennie, is that from the mapping we did the other day at yours? Nice torque dude!! and the valve seat you made is wicked mate, it has some extra preload built in so gives about 0.7 bar, the original one which I now have is only 0.5bar.

Doug, I've ordered the chips I need for sparks so will be live mapping mine again in a week or two, we only managed a few teaks before the head gasket went last time. I would be up for a go on those det cans, my WB is hard wired in, so no worries there. MOT on Monday and hopefully by the end of the week she'll legal and ready.

How many turned up in the end?

( I was under my car the whole weekend )

That was the map we made with idle control taken out and fuel cut taken out! prob explain the consumption thing

Think my TPS is messing about a bit. Doug spotted the map was running from the second line ie: TPS was @ 2 of 15 not 0 so recalibrated it monday evening and bad things started hapening
The first line of the map wasnt doing anything 8O Think thats sorted for now tho!

Will have to check that sensor incase its loose? :?

Also got my pipe back tiged up :) needs a bit of grinding ect..
Image
Gonna make sure it fits first tho.
