Hi, had the touring in for its MOT today, failed on a few bits and pieces (too much e32 comfort for me recently)

Major bit was

"Both rear pipes from t piece to flexi brake pipe excessively corroded"

now the garage said they would not give me a quote for that repair as "there's too much to go wrong, mate"..

have any of you experience of repairing this? if so, what kind of cash am i gonna be spending?

thanks

When mine failed the MOT, i had the whole section replaced with new pipes, from the master cylinder to the T piece and from the T piece to the flexis. Cost me Ԛ£100 all in.....

hi neil,i dont understand this "to much to go wrong mate" sounds more like they cant be bothered or are to busy.mine got done as kam-325i for a similar price. yopu can buy a car specific complete kit of pre-made pipes cut to the right lengths with the correct fittings attached from somewhere like www.demon-tweeks.co.uk for Ԛ£89.90 if you fancy doing them yourself.if theres a couple of problem areas youd be as well doing the lot at the same time

There isn't £5 of metal brake pip and fittings on a whole E30.
Replace corroded pipe with "cunnifer" copper alloy pipe off a reel.
Problem with the rear cross pipes is accessability. It's a job that should be routinely done when the fuel tank or rear subframe is off the car.
