right

brian heres the solution!

the dutch came round today, a true zone hero! we initially investigated the central locking relay, which was working fine. without a doubt, it was cliking every time. we could not operate any of the door locks by key or by the pins

deciding that the boot was easiest to access, we removed the central locking motor from there, and replaced it with one out of my 320 turd which i had lying around, and wala! the boot now locks. but the other doors are still inoperative

so when my central locking relay got water in it it must have somehow burnt out all three motors!

I suppose that if the thermal overload trip (spring soldered to a resistor) in the locking ECU was sufficiently "water cooled", then it wouldn't give any protection.

Nice idea, but I'm surprised it was able to destroy a set of locking mechanisms without blowing a fuse somewhere. Incidentally, the Bentley claims that the system disables itself if used more than 8 times in quick succession to prevent damage. I wonder if you knew that, Brian? Probably learnt it when you were about 3 or so, no doubt.

Fuse is 27 (30A) so is unlikely to blow.
Yes, I know about the locking disabling itself after frequent use. Happens often when I'm fault finding on central locking - bloody annoying.

No fuses were ever blown, which i find weird

but as thedutch said, water in that central locking thing obviosuly caused mayhem!

alrite people

finally getting somewhere but still fucking confused. Replaced the boot solenoid and the two door solenoids this morning; i can now operate teh door with the key manually and lock them all.

However, if i try to lock all the doors from the drivers side. they all lock, but when i try to unlock them, they will not. Also, my immobiliser, which use to operate the door locks, does now not. When you press it, you can here the door selonoids operating but nothing happens. This is only with the immobiliser tho; with the key i can lock all doors at once but have to open each one manually.

:wtf:

UPDATE: been playing with the dead door lock wiring trick thing, the immobiliser now operates the passengers door and boot lock, both locks and unlocks them, but doesnt do jack to the drivers side? Using the key from the drivers side only locks the drivers side door now, does not operate any dooors?

Update 2: Now sorted!
