Please help anyone... when I put my wipers on intermittant, they stop half way across the screen... is this simple to fix? If so how?

You've got 2 options:
1 Get a smaller windscreen thus the half sweep of the wipers would be sufficient.
2. Check the motor for any obrustructions or breaks in the linkage.
Doesn't sound like an leccy fault if they still sweep half the screen.

I think there is a known problem for this....
I don't think it's the wipers hitting each other, it's some kind of electrical fault I think.
Someone will hopefully post the link to the tech fix guide! I can't find it!

the article on the site will cover it. it's simply that the wiping contacts get wet and corrode. clean tehm up again and it'll all be fine.

Symptom of the cold weather we're having. The already hardened grease in the wiper motor gearbox gets harder still, and the sliding contacts get lifted off their fixed contacts.

on my e30 325 cab 1991 I have a problem with the wipers shuddering accross the screen in intermittent.
What I do is run the wipers in continuos mode and it seems that after a while (perhaps when the motor is warmed up), when you select the intermitent again it works fine.

Thers a chance that you'll find that the grease thats in there has gone hard as well.gareth wrote:the article on the site will cover it. it's simply that the wiping contacts get wet and corrode. clean tehm up again and it'll all be fine.

So might be best to replace it at the same time as it can bugger up the contacts.
