Doesn't mean that was the car doing the chasing though...
Yes thats true I didn't think of that to be honest. Well the police will know if wayne doesn't, but its another matter i'm sure to get them to tell you.

It's traffic. Full width light bar. Porbably a 3.2 Vectra, becoming quite popular now.

When I had my car written off in a crash there were no charges brought against the driver at fault but the police did give me his name and address incase I wanted to take out a private prosicution, I was frankly amazed that this information was given to me. Several of my close and rather large mates suggested paying him a visit, but its not worth it you could be in more trouble than the prick that caused all this and you could forget any chance of making a claim. I just took some consalation from the fact that I was not that badly injured !

I had an experiance like this a couple of years ago when a Drunk uninsured driver hit me from behind and wrote my car off ( it was an astra GTE! ) and I had to claim off the MIB, you can claim them for the car but it takes at least 2 years, so if you have protected no claims I would claim off your insurance company, just to save the wait... if not contact the MIB.

My claim was delt with through my insurance legal cover, who then did my MIB claim etc....

Just tell your insurance company, supply them with all relavant details and they will do the rest. you should get paid out from the "national pot"
all you can do is try .. but more important you and family are safe...

gazza wrote:any one who has dealt with the mib (motor insurers bureau) will find they only pay out for uninsured loss where personal injury is involved and not for accidents where those people are not injured unless you can say that the parties concerned are injured ie shock/post traumatic stress disorder but you need to make this known at a early stage as when the police ask if you are ok you are likely to say yes ....this will go in the report book and makes it difficult at a later to say you are injured when you previously stated you were ok also see your gp at an early stage and get it all documented no matter how minor
The rules changed a couple of years ago about this and claims for property-only damage can be made under the uninsured driver scheme without having to claim injury, but there is a Ԛ£300 excess, so you don't get the first Ԛ£300 of your claim paid. Property-only claims cannot be made under the untraced driver scheme.

A MIB claim is the only way forward for Wayne in this situaiton.

get a compensation claim in asap, this should be sent to the procurator fiscal.

make sure you quote the crime reference number, ofending vehicle mark, your vehicle mark and estimated cost of repair.

dont exaggerate on the claim... (your talking around £1000 mark in repairs ?)

and if there has been any personal injury thats a matter for claims direct.

but you need that claim in to the fiscal ASAP.

Very very useful little feature that most opt out of, foolishly. This will cover the cost of any legal proceedings instigated. When I sold motor insurance, I was told a story by a couple who wer hit by some muppet on a crotch rocket. It was his fault but he tried to sue them. 2 years later and a £5k bill for the biker, he lost. The couples insurance policy had handled the case through their solicitors at to cost to the couple. Really good option to have.

Time to organise a zone meet to the charvers house?

What was that biblical line said by Sammy Jackson in Pulp Fiction??

".......Great Vengance and furious anger...."

To echo everyone elses sentiments, glad all are ok.

glad ur all ok m8. i had this a few years back on my bike, sum kn*b knocked me off, a 2week old bmw,got himself and family out locked the car and ran away... he turned out not 2have any insurance.it was at a show ground, so private property, so the police didnt care, but the copper was sound and broke into the car for us and went through everything and even gave us the guys dole form(what a suprise...).my dad and i went round with a carefully written letter that nite, basically sayin it was his fault etc, with sum tyre levers(wish we could have used them tho...)his gf answered sayin he wasnt there, tho we cud see him in the reflection of the mirror(thick???).went through mib ringing them every other day and eventually got about 3k from them, but it took about 2/3months.then sold the remains for about 1500 pounds,so got about 4.5k for a 2week old bmw id just paid nearly 8grand for...
the best advise i can give you with them is get as many photos as possible and plague them as often as you can, keep everything in a file together about it and always speak 2the same person if possible.theyll eventually send someone out 2look at it and decide whether 2right it off or repair it.
finally youll get 30minutes free solicitors advice from citizens advice so use it, its free after all its why we pay our taxes!!! good luck m8 and sorry for the loss.
