Soon....

On 196k at the moment. Original engine, original cam (which on a 316i isn't exactly quiet), original clutch too :o

I know I've got "one of" the highest mileages - 2 others that come to mind as being already over 200k are Jesus325iTouring's car and Richy325iTouring's, although neither are on original engines.

I doubt I'll be the "winner" as no doubt someone in a bigger country (perhaps an American) will have a car with a lot more miles on!

my old touring reached 189000 and didnt miss a beat...until that unfortunate incident with the truck.my current touring only had 80000 "allegedly" on the clock but blew up in spectacular fashion, definately a dodgy mileage, ran more like an 800000 mile engine :D every cloud has a silver lining though as that paved the way for my current 4500 mile cossie engine, but that will never ever see a bmw type mileage figure as they are no where near as reliable

my mate has 5 beemers, his two 318i m40's are on about 210k and 212k. one is on the original engine too! his last 320 made it to 226k before it went to the scrapyard in the sky. he also has two 34's on 170k and 225k and another e30 with only 130k ( sunday car) !

My E30 320i has just over 170k on the clock, original engine and quiet as you like. Has got full service history since new tho, never missed one and last service was 2k ago, 2nd timing belt at 128k :D

Runs really well, but it will also be gone soon making way for a bigger lump.....

Just to clear up the american 55 mph speed limit. This is not strictly true . On interstates the limit is usually 70 mph and you can get away with 75-80 most of the time. Only drops down when you get close to built up areas and known black spots. Most of what we would call 'A' roads are 55 or 60 mph.
Im sure some of our american friends can back me up. I worked out in the states for 8 months and was always getting pulled for speeding , But always got let off when they heard the accent and saw my pink piece of shit driving licence !!

Your right but it depends on the state as well new york for example has no roads over 65mph but in the southren states it is more like 70-75mph but you can get away with 85-90 in many areas

1990 325i original engine still stock on 227 000km not out :D
Full service history, she's regularly serviced, starts first time, not as
quick as my '87 but still a pleasure to drive.
She's got the highest mileage of all my e30's and given the least amount of problems... Murphy's law today she won't start :?

This is my 4th e30:

Others 1989 320i - 168 000km - this was my first car until she was stolen! F**kers
1988 320i - 219 000km - had a small encounter with a wet road and a wall
My little e30 came a close second! Just got her back from a major service too!
1987 325i - 189 000km - This one pulled like a train, had a idling valve problem which I could never get sorted

200k+ miles on a M20 is barely middle aged (just like me).
As I've posted before, I stripped a 200K one right down a while ago, that had been damaged by a spark plug breaking up.
Everything on the whole engine was still within original spec, (apart from the damaged cylinder), except for the exhaust valve guides were slightly worn.

I broke a 325i not long ago, the body was scrap, the MOT testers had poked the life out of it, the engine though is in superb condition, full service history up to 205,000 miles and it was showing 209,000. doesnt miss a beat, no rattly cam or rockers and pulls like a demented dentist :D

I know it's not an E30 but I just remembered a friend of mine sold on his old white 518 two months ago with over 260k on the clock. 280.00 with a few months ticket, a bit tappy but not too much of a bad drive actually :)

My L plate E36 M3 had 128k on when I bought it, and in contrast sounded like a bag of nails lol! My M20 purrs with the 170+k on the clock, it will be a shame to see the good ol engine go :(

I'd love to see a clock with high 200k's on and even in the 300's :)
